As part of the recent renovation of Stauffer Library’s main floor, the library was honored to work with David R. Maracle, a world-renowned artist, multi-instrumentalist, and Indigenous Knowledge keeper from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, to install a new stone sculpture as a permanent feature as part of growing representation of Indigenous art in the library.
To learn more about David’s artistic vision, the meaning behind Sundance Medicine, and the sculpture’s impact, please watch our celebration video featuring interviews with students and the artist himself.
Visitors are warmly invited to experience this powerful work in person. You’ll find Sundance Medicine displayed in one of the alcoves just beyond the spiral staircase on the first floor.
