Welcome to a new school year. Whether you’re new to Queen’s or returning for another year, the library is here to help you succeed.

Here are five things to know about your library this year:

1. Find your space

There’s a place for you at the library. With five library locations and a variety of study spaces, there’s a place for you, whether you are looking for silent study, or a place to explore ideas with your classmates. You can also book group study rooms for collaborative work.

Graduate students can take advantage of the Helen Howard Graduate Students Reading Room, while the Adaptive Technology Centre offers accessibility support and assistive technologies for those who are registered with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services.

Check our website for more information or come explore in person!

2. Get help with your studies

Staring at an assignment and not sure where to begin? The library is here to help.

Get started by searching Omni on our homepage to find books, articles, and more, or check out research guides created for your subject area.

And when you need a little extra help, you can Ask us (by text, chat, or in person), or even book an in-depth research consultation with a librarian or specialist.

3. Expand your horizons

Looking for your next great read? Check out our collections, including the AMS Student Reads collection.

Throughout the year, the library also hosts events and activities for students, staff, faculty, and the Kingston community. Watch our homepage, including our events calendar to see what’s coming up.

4. Let us support your research

For graduate students and researchers, the library offers expertise and support throughout the research process. We can help with:

Research data management, including creating a data management plan

Finding and using specialized research resources

Open Access

Copyright questions

Building your scholarly profile with an ORCID iD, helping ensure your research is correctly attributed to you

5. Ask us!

Have a question you don’t see here? Get in touch. Whether you need help finding a source, navigating a database, locating the right study space, printing an assignment, or figuring out where to start, library staff are ready to help. It’s what we’re here for.

Welcome to the new school year. Whether you’re here to study, research, discover something new, or connect with your peers, the library is your space. We’re glad you’re here and are ready to support you every step of the way.
