Scanning & Photocopying at the Library

Introduction

You can scan, and photocopy at most of our locations using our Papercut on our Ricoh Multifunction Devices.

Current Queen’s Students, staff and Faculty can access the service with your NetID and password.

For users who do not have an active Queen’s net ID (RMC, Alumni, community members) services can be accessed using a Temporary WinID which can be obtained from the service desk.

Scanning

  • Tap the touchscreen at the Ricoh device to wake it from energy saving mode.
  • Login with your Username (this is your netID) and Password

Based on the type of document you are scanning, determine whether you use the flatbed scanner or the document feeder.  Bound books and fragile documents must go on the flatbed.  Loose sheets in good condition that are staple free can be scanned with the document feeder on top of the machine.

You can also press Settings to change the default settings. You can make the following adjustments in Scan Settings:

  • Duplex Mode - (Single or 2-Sided)
  • Paper Size – Letter, Legal Ledger
  • Auto detect size – Same or Mixed Sizes
  • Orientation – Portrait or Landscape
  • File Type – PDF, JPEG, TIFF
  • DPI – 200 to 600 DPI (dots per Inch)
  • Colour Mode – Color, Grayscale or BW
