Norman V. Lamb Gothic Fantasy Collection

The Norman V. Lamb Gothic Fantasy Collection includes almost 6,000 items, including novels, fanzines, and pulp magazines from science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres.  Initially acquired by Queen’s University Library in 1967 from Jack’s Book Store in Toronto, much of the original collection belonged to Norman V. Lamb, a civil servant, book collector, science fiction writer, and Sergeant in the Canadian Army during World War II. A few years after the original acquisition, the English Literature Department, under the guidance of Charles Pullen, cooperated with the library to purchase a further two hundred items, including many works by Howard Phillips (H.P.) Lovecraft. Some of the collection has been catalogued and is searchable in the Queen’s University Library catalogue. A finding aid is also available.  Examples of some of the Canadian content in the collection have been digitized.
