The Science Fiction and Fantasy Collection has been part of the Engineering and Science Library since 2006, thanks to a large donation. The collection originally contained over 500 novels, most of which were published in the late twentieth century.
For several years, the Science Fiction & Fantasy Collection remained as it was when it was donated. However, with new research into the benefits of pleasure reading among post-secondary students, the decision was made in late 2022 to expand the collection. A modest sum of the annual budget now goes toward making the collection current with both best-selling and award-winning novels.
