We are pleased to announce that QSpace, our institutional repository, has successfully migrated to Scholaris, a Canadian shared repository service developed by the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL), the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL), and the University of Toronto Libraries.
QSpace is now available at queensu.scholaris.ca
The move to Scholaris offers Queen's researchers and the broader academic community several key benefits:
Data will be securely hosted in Canadian university-owned and operated data centres.
The platform's modern architecture means that QSpace will benefit from the latest technological developments, while shared expertise and engagement with a vibrant national repository community will strengthen the service.
Scholars Portal will provide centrally managed hosting and regular upgrades, allowing library staff to focus on core repository work rather than technical maintenance.
Importantly, this migration positions Queen's to better support compliance with the revised Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications, expected to be approved and implemented in 2026. The new policy may require researchers funded by CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC to deposit their peer-reviewed articles in a Canadian institutional repository immediately upon publication with an open license. Scholaris is well suited to meet these requirements, streamlining the deposit process and ensuring Queen's researchers can fulfill their funding obligations.
