Computers

Introduction

We have a number of computer stations available for your research with access to specialized software.  Guests wishing to use/access computer workstations in the library will need to request a guest login. A guest is any visitor who is not a current Queen’s university student, faculty member, or staff member. Alumni and holders of community borrower cards are also considered guests for the purpose of using/accessing computer workstations in the library. As the library’s computer workstations provide access to licensed e-resources and to the Internet, the identity of those using/accessing computer workstations in the library needs to be recoverable if necessary.

Bookable Computers

Designated research stations are available to all members of the Queen's community with an active NetID. Please select your location to see a list of available computers.

Public Workstations

We have two types of public workstations available:

  • Public Computers
The research stations provide access to the web, several major software packages, and facilitate using our search tools.
  • Docking Stations for Laptops
Docking stations allow you to connect your own device to a 24 inch monitor. Keyboards and mice can be borrowed from the Information Services desk.

All of our computers require you to log in with your Queen’s NetID or Library Guest Account. Remember to Save Your Data.

Library Guest Account

Library computers require you to log in with your Queen’s NetID.

If you are a guest visiting Queen’s, guest logins can be obtained from the Information Services desk at any Queen’s University Library location. In order to obtain a guest login, a guest must provide a phone number and present a valid (not expired) piece of government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license. A temporary guest login account will then be created by library staff which can be used by the guest to use/access computer workstations in the library until the end of the day on which the temporary guest login account was created.
