Love Data Week, or LDW, is a yearly international event during the week of Valentine’s Day that celebrates data in its many shapes and forms. Organizations and institutions around the world host their own events to showcase the data close to their hearts and raise awareness on data management practices, platforms, and tools that support the creation of data.
This year’s theme is “Where’s the Data?”; a way to get people thinking about the journey of data from collection through storage and preservation.
Visit the Love Data Week international calendar to register for events from around the world or join us to celebrate Love Data Week at Queen’s.

Description: This Love Data Week panel brings together speakers from across Canada to share case studies and practical examples of how institutions are approaching research data preservation. Presentations (English) will be followed by a Q&A period (French and English), moderated by Alyssa Conlon (Research Data Management Librarian, Borealis/Queen’s University Library). Webinar: Navigating the New North: Data Insights About the Changing Canadian Consumer Patterns
Date: Friday, February 13, 2026, 2:00-3:00 ET
Description: Long-standing relationships and consumer behaviour between Canada and the United States experienced a significant shift in 2025 in part due to trade negotiations between the two nations. Canadians reacted to these changes by promoting a ‘buy-Canadian’ focus and choosing to travel less frequently to the United States.
Using data from Statistics Canada and other Canadian sources, we will discuss how these trends are reflected in the data and will highlight how socio-economic conditions have changed during this period of transformation between our neighbouring countries. Open to the research community.
The panel includes Alexandra Cooper, Data Services Coordinator, Queen’s Library, Liz Hill, Western University, Kevin Manuel, Toronto Metropolitan University, Mike Steeleworthy, Wilfrid Laurier University, Agnes Zientarska-Kayko, University of Waterloo.
